On 14th November, 2015, Alliance Hospital became the first hospital in Nigeria to perform the modified Bentall operation. The 7 hour long surgery was performed on a 27 years old postgraduate student diagnosed with ascending aorta aneurysm. The surgery involves replacing the entire ascending aorta with a synthetic graft, replacing the aortic valve and re-implanting the coronary arteries.
